Super Bowl Champions Support Living Heart Foundation HOPE Program Screening and Pro Player Health Alliance Awareness Event In New York
Long Island, NY (PRWEB) December 02, 2013 -- Super Bowl champions Bart Oates and OJ Anderson with Roy Green, Nick Lowery, and Derek Kennard are actively supporting Living Heart Foundation's (LHF) HOPE Program screening and Pro Player Health Alliance's (PPHA) free public sleep apnea awareness event in Long Island, New York December 5, 2013. David Gergen, Executive Director of PPHA, says, "These awareness events are saving lives. I encourage everyone in Nassau County to invest 45 minutes of their time to learn about sleep apnea; it could mean adding 8-10 years to their life."
Since beginning his campaign titled "Tackle Sleep Apnea", David Gergen and NFL greats have drawn a total of over 1,000 attendees to their events and treated over 160 former NFL/NBA players for sleep apnea. PPHA working with Dr. Archie Roberts, Founder of LHF, to improve the health of former players through screenings and treatments has proven to be the key to success for both organizations.
Dr. Roberts has confirmed the screening event will include dental exams by Dr. Neal Seltzer and Dr. Jeffrey Rein, blood pressure, lung age, body composition, ECG, cardiovascular risk detecting blood tests and obstructive sleep apnea screenings. The Apnea Risk Evaluation System by Watermark (ARES home sleep test unit) will be the sleep apnea screening unit used when medically indicated. This screening will be the first of a series of planned LHF HOPE Super Bowl Symposium programs around the country over the next few months.
As a fun twist, Pro Player Health Alliance holds a free drawing where 1 in 10 registered attendees will win signed prizes at the event. Registration can be found at http://www.proplayersleep.com/events.
