Online shopping continues to grow in popularity, especially as consumers look to avoid long lines and chaos during the holidays. Shopping online can lead to cyber fraud, so Amica Insurance is sharing some tips to help keep personal information safe.
Scammers use several techniques to commit cyber fraud, according to a release from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Those methods include sending emails to promote the sale of counterfeit products, running fraudulent auction sales and reselling merchandise bought with stolen credit cards.
The FBI reminds consumers to be extremely cautious when shopping online, as cyber criminals will resort to “aggressive and creative ways to steal money and personal information.” That’s why Amica is sharing the following tips from the FBI to help prevent cyber fraud:
