Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation Announces Paul Hobbs as 2014 Honorary Vintner
Destin, FL (PRWEB) December 04, 2013 -- Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF) today announced that Paul Hobbs has been named the Honorary Vintner for the 9th Annual Destin Charity Wine Auction. Mr. Hobbs, owner and winemaker of Paul Hobbs Winery in Sebastopol, Calif., will hold a preeminent leadership position during the 2014 Destin Charity Wine Auction on April 25-27; one of the ‘Top 10 Charity Wine Auctions in the U.S.’ according to Wine Spectator Magazine.
“It is a privilege for us to host Paul Hobbs at the Destin Charity Wine Auction this year,” said John Russell, president of the DCWAF. “Paul is indeed one of the leading names throughout the international wine community, having twice been named Wine Personality of the Year by Robert Parker, Jr. During his career, he has positively impacted winemaking at well-known wineries such as Simi, Opus One and Robert Mondavi, and has consulted for Peter Michel, Fisher, Lewis and Catena, among others,” continued Russell.
A native of upstate New York, Mr. Hobbs believes that the essence of profound wine can be traced back to care and expertise in the vineyard. Throughout his career, Mr. Hobbs has always expressed a deep love for family and the joys of collaborative effort; values he learned growing up on a working family farm. He is now consulting and sharing his expertise for finding good soil with winemakers across the globe.
In a recent feature in Forbes Magazine, Mr. Hobbs was coined "The Steve Jobs of Wine," and is now identifying older regions that have been forgotten with time. Mr. Hobbs' wineries embrace minimally-invasive winemaking techniques that produce wines that express their vineyard origins with finesse, complexity and authenticity.
“I am honored to be a part of this year’s festivities in support of the DCWAF Charities, which help transform the lives of so many children in need," said Mr. Hobbs.
The Destin Charity Wine Auction promises the weekend of a lifetime, drawing wine aficionados, award-winning chefs and celebrity vintners from around the globe to enjoy world-class wines in the picture-perfect setting of Destin, Florida. Funds raised from the weekend’s festivities benefit 12 Northwest Florida charities, making a strong impact in lives of children in need.
