Maimonides Medical Center Increases Patient Transfers With Central Logic Patient Flow Technology
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) December 04, 2013 -- Maimonides Medical Center, located in Brooklyn, New York, has partnered with Central Logic—the healthcare industry’s leading provider of innovative patient flow software and consultative expertise—to open the hospital’s first transfer center. Equipped with Central Logic’s solution, Maimonides’ transfer center has immediately enhanced hospital financial margins and accessibility to regional providers.
“We almost doubled the number of hospital transfers since we went live with ForeFront in our transfer center,” said Maria Ferlita, Senior Vice President of Finance at Maimonides. “Those transfer numbers represent significant additional revenue for the hospital. Streamlining the transfer process has allowed us to help more patients and strengthen relationships with neighboring providers.”
“Our processes have proven so successful, we are hiring another fulltime nurse to increase our team’s capacity,” added Barbara Sommer, Vice President, Patient Flow Services.
Maimonides selected the Central Logic Patient Flow System based on its ease of use, integration and reporting capabilities. From the start, this was a fast track project that involved several vendors all providing the latest in technology.
“With everyone working together, the project was delivered on time and within budget,” said Walter Fahey, CIO of Maimonides Medical Center.
Transfer Centers facilitate the movement of patients from primary care providers’ offices, freestanding emergency clinics, and from community hospitals into tertiary acute care settings where higher levels of care can be provided. Utilizing Central Logic’s technology, hospitals quickly coordinate admissions based on individual patient needs, physician availability and a facility’s capacity to accommodate new patients.
“Hospitals nationwide are recognizing the impact of patient flow processes on satisfaction ratings and overall fiscal health,” said Scott Jordan, VP of Consulting Services at Central Logic. “Maimonides’ vision of using technology to coordinate patient flow from patient transfer all the way through discharge is an industry best practice and will lead to higher quality care delivery and sustainable business practices.”
