Unbound Commerce Index Of Retailers See 112% Average Mobile Commerce Revenue Increase

Mobile commerce revenue generated by an index of 300+ retailers who utilize the Unbound integrated solution surged 112% from Thursday to Sunday, as customers reached for their smartphones to shop and covert sales in record numbers.

Leading mobile commerce solution provider Unbound Commerce has released Thanksgiving Weekend (Thursday-Sunday) year-over-year percentage comparison numbers of aggregate mobile commerce transactions, pageviews, and other figures.

Mobile commerce revenue generated by an index of 300+ retailers who utilize the Unbound integrated mobile commerce solution surged 112% from Thursday to Sunday, as customers reached for their smartphones to shop and covert sales in record numbers.

Total mobile site visits jumped 77% and mobile pageviews surged 132%, vs. the 2012 Thanksgiving Weekend. Although the actual number was not released, total transactions were up sharply as well.

Perhaps most-tellingly (regarding consumer confidence in mobile as a medium for shopping), average visit duration increased from 2:36 to 3:14 minutes, a jump of 25%.

Pages per mobile site visit were also up dramatically (30.89%), from 6.53 to 4.99, while the percentage of new site visitors dropped -7.11%. This last number is a strong indicator that consumers are increasingly comfortable with mobile as a vehicle for online sales and are returning to mobile sites again and again, once the mobile optimized site is discovered.

“These numbers are just staggering. We had several large retailers up 300 and 400%,” said Wilson Kerr VP of Sales and Business Development at Unbound Commerce. “Sites in the index that were live last year nearly all saw significant mobile revenue growth and we have new integrated mobile sites launching every week. More big names will be launching with our platform in early 2014, as the shift away from responsive sites continues”, he added.

According to an IBM report also out this week covering an index of 800 retailers, mobile accounted for 42.6% of all web traffic and nearly 26% of all online sales on Thanksgiving Day 2013.
