EZ Tech eliminates time-consuming and error-prone transfer of data from paper reports in the field. The system features "store and forward technology" allowing technicians to continue working even when not connected. Field technicians record and relay information via their mobile device into a central database. Reports delivering unique user-name, date and time-stamps with GPS position provide proof positive to public service commissions that survey work was completed on time.
Southern Cross provides services and innovative technology solutions for utlilities in North America, including gas leak surveys, pipeline integrity projects, and training. The EZ Tech first-of-its-kind software package was developed principally for pipeline field workforce management and compliance reporting. The device-agnostic mobile technology works with multiple mobile devices and operating systems.
"We are honored to be named a finalist," said Southern Cross CEO Ron Bertasi. "Our groundbreaking EZ Tech technology has enabled pipeline utilities to completely reengineer the way they perform field services. For the first time, gas utilities have electronic records of field service results, allowing the immediate use of electronic data for compliance and work force management and enabling, over the longer term, much more sophisticated analysis and reporting of pipeline integrity. EZ Tech is being increasingly accepted as the industry standard and is driving bottom line improvements for our customers while, most importantly, improving pipeline safety."
The EZ Tech software package enables utilities to:
• Digitally record and transmit critical inspection-related data in the field in real time.
• Employ the latest GPS and GIS technology to access electronic records of utility asset locations and to leave an electronic record, including a breadcrumb trail, confirming location.
• Document vital information on utility assets like meters, service lines.
EZ Tech allows radical improvement throughout businesses processes associated with pipeline field services and greatly improves efficiency and effectiveness, thereby lowering both cost and risk.
"We are seeing clients interested in re-engineering their process through EZ Tech. We are working with a client to leverage our technology to reduce yearly meter visits from 3 to 1 while delivering valid proof source for compliance. Just one way EZ Tech is truly a game changer for utilities," said Southern Cross VP of Technology Michael Cleary.
