Lymphoma Research Foundation Participates in National #GivingTuesday Campaign
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 03, 2013 -- Every seven minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with lymphoma, the most common type of blood cancer. In recognition of this fact, the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – is participating in #GivingTuesday. The Foundation’s #GivingTuesday campaign will last for seven days (December 3-10, 2013) and highlight seven ways to give the gift of hope to those affected by lymphoma. The Foundation encourages everyone to give the #GiftofHope by:
- Sharing encouraging words or your own personal lymphoma story on LRF's Facebook or Twitter pages
- Joining the Lymphoma Research Foundation's Buddy Program
- Donating $7 (or a multiple of 7) to support lymphoma research
- Joining Team LRF and raising funds for a cure
- Volunteering at a local chapter event or program
- Becoming an advocate and making the voice of the lymphoma community heard
- Taking advantage of LRF's financial aid grants (for those currently undergoing treatment)
“The Lymphoma Research Foundation is thrilled to participate in #GivingTuesday,” said Elizabeth Thompson, LRF Chief Executive Officer. “Instilling the value of charity during the holiday season is so important; and there is no greater gift to give to someone affected by cancer than the gift of hope.”
#GivingTuesday is a campaign intended to create a national day of giving. In its second annual year, #GivingTuesday kicks-off at the start of the holiday season on Tuesday, December 3rd following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations, whether through philanthropic activities or donations.
