NorthStar Alarm Rings in the Holiday Spirit with Festival of Trees Utah
Orem, UT (PRWEB) December 04, 2013 -- The NorthStar Alarm conference room turned into a candy wonderland, filled with the smell of fresh frosting on Monday, as employees built a special gingerbread house to donate to the Festival of Trees Utah organization. The NorthStar gingerbread house will be on display all week long at the Festival of Trees event, before being auctioned-off. Every penny raised during the auction benefits a child in need at the Primary Children’s Medical Center.
“I know a sweet, little four year boy who was just admitted to Primary Children’s for treatment, so taking part in the Gingerbread Festival was especially meaningful for me,” said Lorena Boothe, paperwork supervisor at NorthStar Alarm. “I was so proud of the house we made, and hope it will attract bidders that can help a child like this little boy receive treatment.”
NorthStar employees spent the entire day intricately layering on frosting and gumdrops on the three foot tall gingerbread house, in addition to weeks of idea brainstorming, to raise funds for Primary Children’s Medical Center. Other houses in the Gingerbread Village were equally cared for, including a towering gingerbread structure with hundreds of hand-made figures made by a 70-year old man who began his creation in January for the festival.
The Festival of Trees event captures the Christmas spirit beautifully through the donations of gingerbread houses, and hundreds of elaborately decorated trees, hand-made quilts, wreaths, center pieces. The 43 year running Festival of Trees tradition has raised over $33 million for Primary Children’s, including over $1.8 million last year alone. This year, NorthStar will join hands with thousands of others awaiting the tally of this year’s donations.
The event will be open to the public December 4-7 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at the Southtowne Expo Center. Tickets can be purchased at the door. For more information, visit festivaloftreesutah.org.
