Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation to Participate in Colorado Gives Day
Denver, CO (PRWEB) December 04, 2013 -- The Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) Foundation announces its support of Colorado Gives Day on December 10, 2013– an initiative to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving to Colorado charities. Presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank, Colorado Gives Day is a 24-hour period to “Give where you live” and SPD Foundation will benefit from this initiative.
SPD is a neurological disorder that disrupts the way an individual processes and responds to sensations. A person with SPD usually has difficulty with social interactions, emotion and behavior regulation, and/or motor performance. SPD affects daily activities and relationships, impairing quality of life and includes the sensory challenges associated with attention deficit disorders (ADD and ADHD), autistic spectrum disorders, anxiety disorders, emotional and behavioral disorders, learning disorders, and other developmental issues.
The mission of the SPD Foundation is to improve the lives of children and adults who have SPD, as well as their families, through research, education, and increased global awareness.

“We are excited to be part of Colorado Gives Day this year. This initiative provides opportunity to raise awareness of the work we do to help millions of individuals in Colorado and the US affected by SPD,” said Sheryl Benjamin, Executive Director of SPD Foundation.
“Thanks to generous Coloradans and hardworking nonprofits, we’ve seen the impact of Colorado Gives Day build dramatically over the last three years in every way,” said Marla J. Williams, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. “Not only the dollars raised, but the number of nonprofits and donors contributing to the success of the day has also grown tremendously. We look forward to continuing this momentum through Colorado Gives Day 2013.”
