In medieval Japan, warlords rule and warfare ruins the vast empire. Death often comes on the flutter of a whisper from the lips of a living shadow.

DARK ILLUSIONS is a heart wrenching tale told with haunting imagery about innocence lost and confidence regained. Against the backdrop of civil war, three women band together to end the chaos and carnage unleashed by a demonic daimyo. Madame Chiyome, Kiku and Yuki do not deign to wait for the hero, Shiro, to rescue fair maidens. They rescue Shiro!

“Angela Fitzpatrick’s novel is an unflinching look at life in 16th century Japan with a myriad of characters that demand to be read. Her prose is beautiful and haunting at times with an ultimately uplifting message. It’s perfect for anyone who loves an epic feeling of intrigue,” commented Erica Freeman, Editor.

Angela drew upon her many experiences growing up in the south during the turmoil of the Civil Rights movement in order to infuse into her characters the drive and the determination needed to change the course of history.
