CarePoint Health Launches Comprehensive Wound Care Center in Hudson County
Jersey City, NJ (PRWEB) December 04, 2013 -- In a move to expand the availability of its innovative treatment for chronic wounds, CarePoint Health has opened state-of-the-art wound care centers at two Hudson County hospitals.
The new Centers for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Therapy at CarePoint Health provide the latest cutting-edge technology in wound treatment, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), a medical treatment that places the patient suffering from chronic wounds in a pressurized oxygen chamber to enhance the body’s natural healing and strengthens the immune system. The Centers are located at Hoboken University Medical Center and Bayonne Medical Center.
“Because chronic wounds detract from the quality of life for so many patients, we knew it was paramount to take the lead in Hudson County and provide the best possible wound healing treatment,” said Christina Mulleady, BSN, RN, Director of Wound Care Services.
The Centers for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Therapy at CarePoint Health apply proven wound care practices and advanced clinical approaches to all types of wounds, including leg ulcers, vascular wounds, bone infections, radiation tissue damage, diabetes-related wounds, and slow-healing wounds.
“The Centers for Wound Care emphasize a ‘whole body’ approach to wound care, focusing on a wide range of wound types and going far beyond diabetic foot care offered by other hospitals,” said Dr. Emran Sheikh, a nerve reconstruction surgeon and Medical Director for the wound care center at Hoboken University Medical Center.
Dr. Diane Dworkin, medical director for the wound care center at Bayonne Medical Center, noted that the new Centers for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Therapy at CarePoint Health “also offers patients the opportunity to participate in clinical trials utilizing the latest wound care products, dressings and antibiotics.”
“This is an added benefit to our patients,” added Dr. Dworkin, “because many of these products are not yet available to the general public.”
