(PRWEB) December 05, 2013 -- One week ago, SOLO VIVA opened its doors to the public, launching its first online collection: Viva Xairo handbags, which were designed by Katie Jo Ramsey, a former Covenant College graduate. The mission of the company is to promote designers, to set the standard for fair trade, and to support nonprofits throughout the world.
“Xairo, “to rejoice,” is the essence of life. In that spirit, each purse is named after a woman who inspires me to seek joy, women who embody strength and life” said Ms.Ramsey, designer for SOLO VIVA.
Currently, a portion of SOLO VIVA's proceeds will go to LifeSpring Community Health. LifeSpring is a community health ministry whose purpose is to provide health education and promotion, medical services and community advocacy in urban Chattanooga.
SOLO VIVA believes that fair trade should be the norm for all retailers. Its goal is to produce quality goods and offer affordable prices for customers, while insisting on fair working conditions for those producing the goods. Consequently, SOLO VIVA has partnered with Zona Franca Masili, the first certified Free Trade Zone in the world to be operated by its workers.
Although it may appear challenging to accomplish this model on a large scale, SOLO VIVA is resolved to live up to its slogan: Change by Design.
