Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 06, 2013
Radius Networks, Inc., the leading provider of mobile proximity services, today announced the release of its ScanBeacon iBeacon scanner application for Macintosh computers.
iBeacons are short range, Bluetooth Low Energy transmitters that can notify mobile devices when they come within 100 feet of the beacon. This micro-location proximity awareness can be leveraged to deliver a wide range of new innovative solutions, such as precision indoor navigation, automatic ticketing, guided museum tours and location-relevant offers and promotions.
“A lot of developers are flying blind when it comes to working with iBeacons. ScanBeacon is like your air traffic control console for iBeacons. With ScanBeacon, now you have the ability to discover and monitor the real-time advertisements from nearby iBeacons. We think ScanBeacon is the perfect tool for people that are interested in experimenting with iBeacons and developing iBeacon-enabled mobile applications,” said David Helms, Vice President of Business Development at Radius Networks.
“The release of iOS 7 makes it possible to develop some pretty cool proximity-aware apps for iPhone and iPad devices,” said Chris Sexton, Director of Engineering at Radius Networks. “ScanBeacon is an essential tool that I use every day to develop and test iBeacon mobile solutions. It’s made our whole team so much more productive, and now I can’t imagine doing my job without it.”
“ScanBeacon is a great addition to our suite of iBeacon technologies that also includes our iBeacon hardware kits, our MacBeacon virtual beacons, our ProximityKit modile SDKs and cloud services and our iLocate iBeacon discovery application. The addition of ScanBeacon is continued proof that Radius Networks is the market leader in the enabling technologies that are helping developers deliver real mobile proximity solutions to their customers.”
ScanBeacon is an iBeacon scanner application that discovers nearby iBeacons and displays their advertising details and derives relative distance and proximity. Find out more about ScanBeacon at http://radiusnetworks.com/scanbeacon-app.html.
