Free & Easy Traveler Hits 100,000 Likes on Facebook After a Successful 100-Day Dream Trip Give Away

Over the past two months, Free & Easy Traveler has been getting people to enter a contest to win 100 days of free travel by designing their own dream trip. The campaign was successful and they hit 100,000 likes on Facebook after only running for two of months.

Free & Easy Traveler is making someone’s dream trip a reality. Over the past two months, people have had the opportunity to design and create their 100-day dream trip on Free & Easy’s website and then enter it into a draw for the chance at winning it. Now that they have reached 100,000 Likes on Facebook, the contest, known as the #100DayGiveaway, has ended and a winner has been chosen.

Kelly Gordon of Ottawa, ON was the lucky individual who had her dream trip come true and will now be sent on the trip of a lifetime courtesy of Free & Easy Traveler. The contest brought a massive growth to Free & Easy’s social media presence. Besides growing by over 25,000 Likes on Facebook, their Twitter followers and YouTube subscribers tripled while their Instagram account grew by over 3000 - all in the span of just over two months.

“Since the entire contest was centred around us reaching 100,000 (likes) on Facebook,” says Free & Easy’s operations manager Rob Campbell, “we are obviously thrilled that we reached the mark so quickly and the growth we saw in other areas has just been a huge bonus.”

When asked about basing a contest around hitting a specific benchmark on social media, Campbell replied: “We were definitely a little nervous at first, we didn’t want the contest to drag on too long and for people to lose interest. But we had a lot of faith in our team and the idea of creating a 100-day Dream Trip really resonating with young travelers and we were right. We hit our mark way ahead of schedule!”

The contest concludes a massive year of growth for the small Canadian travel company that is beginning to make ripples in the travel industry not just nationally but internationally as well. After shocking many of the world’s larger travel companies by winning Tour Radar’s ‘Most Amazing Tour’ contest in 2012, they are defending their title again this year and are off to a very quick start to the contest, which ends December 31.

“If you’re just talking sheer volume of customers, then we are still way behind some of the larger and more established travel companies in the world,” explains Campbell, “but we make an effort to really connect with the people who do come travel with us, and we enjoy maintaining those connections within our growing community of travelers in Canada and around the world. And to see our travelers giving back to us and helping us win these contests against some very successful companies is extremely humbling.”
