Siva Jeya, Ph.D., LMFT, has opened Creek Counseling and Consulting, LLC with offices in Boca Raton and Tamarac. Dr. Jeya offers customized therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families who seek to change a particular aspect of their lives and gain greater emotional serenity and resilience. The areas Dr. Jeya specializes in include anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, interpersonal relationship issues, and career and personal development.

Dr. Jeya’s personal identity and professional focus give her keen sensitivity and competence around cross-cultural and immigration issues. Culturally sensitive or multicultural therapy looks both “inward” and “outward,” inward to the grounding someone receives from their unique cultural background and outward to how the traditional culture meshes with mainstream modern culture. Culture does not impose a rigid, immovable boundary. As different cultures come in contact they enrich and modify each other, without losing their identity. In this regard, Dr. Jeya will ably assist those adapting to a new culture and/or country in dealing with acculturative stress, balancing cultural clashes and complexities, and blending values. She has worked closely with individuals from numerous Asian countries including Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Japan, China, Thailand, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.

Apart from working with individual clients, Dr. Jeya also consults with organizations and businesses and provides professional workshops and training on various topics, among them brief therapy, systemic family therapy, and clinical hypnotherapy. These sessions reflect her special emphasis on culture and multiculturalism, encompassing ethnicity, identity, and acculturation, topics on which she has also written. Dr. Jeya has a Ph.D. from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL. She is a Clinical Fellow in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), a certified hypnotherapist, and a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Florida.
