Brock International, the developer and supplier of PaverBase®, a unique paver underlayment system used beneath patios, walkways and other pedestrian applications, has released patent rights information to help industry professionals and consumers avoid conflicts with emerging competitive products. Brock is the leading supplier of safety and drainage layers used underneath synthetic turf fields and playgrounds worldwide, and has received numerous patents for its innovative products.

“Brock has made a substantial investment in developing our PaverBase® system,” noted Dan Sawyer, Founder and CEO of Brock International. “We believe the innovations described in our patents and patent applications result in superior paver underlayment products. As paver underlayment suppliers recognize the benefits of Brock’s patented technologies and enter the market with competitive products, we are focusing more on patent rights education to help buyers avoid potential conflicts. Ethically it is important to require our patent rights to be respected, just as Brock respects the patent rights of others.”

The company’s comprehensive patent program keeps the market informed about PaverBase® system patent rights, which prohibit the unauthorized manufacture, use, sale, offer for sale and importation of its patented inventions. Brock’s patent rights include U.S. Patent No. 8,353,640, which describes a panel with top surface drainage channels and bottom surface channels formed from sides of downward projections, where the top and bottom channels are connected by drain holes; and U.S. Design Patents D637,318 and D645,169 which describe ornamental underlayment panel designs that can serve both turf and paver applications. Brock has filed additional patent applications in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that relate to its PaverBase® system.

Used to lay pavers in pedestrian areas, Brock PaverBase® speeds construction, makes the site easier to work in, and gives the homeowner the patio of their dreams in less time. The overlapping panel system is made from Polypropylene, an environmental material known for its durability, resilience, and thermal insulation qualities. PaverBase® replaces much of the traditional base used under pavers. Specially engineered for patios and walkways and other pedestrian applications, it is the only product of its kind to receive the prized Cradle to Cradle CertificationCM for its outstanding commitment to sustainability.
