Organic Innovations in Gurnick Academy Ultrasound Technology Program’s Curriculum Were Discussed by Joint Advisory Committee
San Mateo, CA (PRWEB) December 06, 2013 -- In November 2013, Joint Advisory Committee met to discuss changes in curriculum of Gurnick Academy Ultrasound Technology Program.
The goal of this meeting was to discuss the alterations of the program’s curriculum based on the current innovations in Ultrasound Technology. Proposed changes were presented to the Committee, along with the processes of implementation. Members also discussed the prospects and expectations of future developments in education as well as possibilities of expanding the lab of the Academy. As of today, Ultrasound Technology Program’s lab is equipped with 13 machines.
The list of participants of the meeting included, but not limited to Gurnick Academy’s Faculty and Staff, as well Sonography community members among which are Zonare Medical Systems, Summit Alta Bates, Sutter Health, KenFoster Medical Agency, Bay Valley Imaging, Better Education Group LLC.
Claudia Von Zamory, Ultrasound Technology Program Executive Director at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts shared the program’s vision: "Our goal is to become the educational center for the bay area ultrasound community. Our program’s content grows as the technology grows and all members of our advisory board and our imaging community will have a chance to contribute."
Ultrasound Technology Program, also known as Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, prepares graduates for entry-level employment as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with specializations in abdominal/small parts, OB/GYN, vascular and introduction to musculoskeletal ultrasound.
The program length is 19 months with 12 months of clinical internship. 2 groups start every year. The next Prerequisite Start Date is May 19, 2014 for the core program starting on November 6, 2014.
