JiveHealth Launches Easy Eater 2 iPhone App to Get Kids to Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 09, 2013 -- JiveHealth, the grand winner of Partnership for a Healthier America End Childhood Obesity Innovation Challenge, unveiled its new Easy Eater 2 app today. Designed for the iPhone and iPod Touch, Easy Eater 2 is a game that helps parents get their children ages 4 to 10 to eat more fruits and vegetables and makes healthy eating an enjoyable activity for the whole family. Easy Eater 2 is free and available now in the App Store.
“Getting kids to eat fruits and vegetables can be a major challenge for any parent,” said Dennis Ai, founder of JiveHealth. “We created Easy Eater 2 to give parents an exciting way to teach their children about healthy eating. By turning mealtime into a fun game, we’re keeping kids engaged with nutrition, which will build long-term healthy eating habits.”
Promoting Healthy Eating Choices
In Easy Eater 2, each player selects a pet to raise and “checks in” to feed it healthy foods, mimicking his or her real world eating choices. The foods are assigned points called “Grub Bucks,” which can be used to earn accessories for a player’s pet, get new pets, or win real world prizes from parents, such as no chores for a day or a game night with the family.
In addition to playing against family members, families can challenge other families by connecting through Facebook to play in weekly team competitions. Players can also win “Trophies” for adopting healthy habits of their own such as drinking a glass of water three times a day or trying 15 different fruits at least once.
“Once we found Easy Eater, we were able to get the kids more motivated to eat different kinds of foods and it made it a little more exciting and a little more like a game," said Sara, a risk management director and mother of two kids ages 7 and 9. “I would recommend Easy Eater 2. It’s very easy to use, it’s very simple and it’s a lot easier than the star charts on the wall that we’ve tried and other different kinds of incentives. The kids really enjoy it and it gets everybody excited about dinner.”
