Zanes Law is delighted to contribute. The joy on the faces of both the children and the audience is absolutely contagious.

Claudia Zanes, non-attorney CEO of the personal injury firm Zanes Law, will perform alongside state Sen. Steve Farley Dec. 14-15 in “The Nutcracker Ballet (El Cascanuences),” as one of several guest performers including Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and his wife, Karen.

The production, a popular Tucson tradition, serves as the yearly recital for Dancing in the Streets Arizona, a non-profit group that provides dance classes to children and at-risk youths. Guest performers include local personalities and community leaders, who happily join the little stars on stage.

“Dancing in the Streets is a great program for children who normally would not experience the joy of ballet,” said Claudia Zanes. “Having grown up in that situation, I know how much of a difference a program like this can make. Now that we have the opportunity, Zanes Law is delighted to contribute. The joy on the faces of both the children and the audience is absolutely contagious.”

“Many American families view The Nutcracker as a holiday tradition, but many of our students are seeing it for the first time. Being part of the production builds a new tradition for them and their families, and shows children what they can achieve with teamwork, discipline, and patient practice,” said Joseph Rodgers, founder and artistic director of Dancing in the Streets Arizona. “Claudia and our other volunteers make this happen every year, and we truly appreciate their time.”

Children of all ages enjoy the classic ballet and its characters: magical toymaker Herr Drosselmeier, Claire, her beloved Nutcracker Prince, twirling Snowflakes, and battling mice.

The Nutcracker appearance caps a busy season of community involvement for Claudia Zanes and Zanes Law, the personal injury firm she founded with husband Doug Zanes in 2003. In November, Zanes was named one of 10 Women of Influence for 2013 by Inside Tucson Business. October marked the successful Go Red for Women Luncheon (flagship event for the American Heart Association of Southern Arizona), for which she served as 2013 chair.

While she is not an attorney, Claudia Zanes’ business knowledge has helped grow Zanes Law into one of the most widely recognized legal firms in Arizona. The firm was also a finalist for this year’s Copper Cactus award for Community Service.

This year’s Nutcracker is on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Fox Theatre. The dancers will be accompanied by the Tucson Civic Orchestra. Tickets are available here.
