"I really like my ColdAvenger mask. It makes it way easier for me to breathe while I’m climbing. And it doesn’t make my goggles get all blurry. I kinda feel like a Stormtrooper when I wear it, which is pretty cool!

Missoula, MT (PRWEB) December 09, 2013

ColdAvenger, maker of high-performance cold weather face masks, is proud to announce that ColdAvenger athlete Tyler Armstrong will be using their face mask as he climbs Mt. Aconcagua this December. Tyler is raising funds for CureDuchenne, a foundation aimed at curing Duchenne, which is a form of muscular dystrophy. If he succeeds in his attempt, Tyler will be the youngest person to summit the storied mountain.

At 22,841 feet, Aconcagua is the highest peak in both the southern and western hemispheres and is one of the seven summits, the highest peaks on each continent, which are highly coveted climbs for many mountaineers. Tyler started climbing at the age of seven, when he became the youngest climber to summit Mt. Whitney in one day. Last year, he successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.

ColdAvenger is a patented line of face masks and balaclavas designed to provide comfort and protection in the coldest weather conditions. Every ColdAvenger face mask comes with a ventilator that allows free breathing while warming and humidifying incoming air. As he climbs Aconcagua, Tyler may face temperatures below -30 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of over 100 kilometers per hour.

When asked why he chose ColdAvenger, Tyler said, “I really like my ColdAvenger mask. It makes it way easier for me to breathe while I’m climbing. And it doesn’t make my goggles get all blurry. I kinda feel like a Stormtrooper when I wear it, which is pretty cool!”

CureDuchenne is an organization aimed at curing Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Their mission is “to save this generation of Duchenne boys,” and they work with leading scientists and researchers to accelerate clinical trials to more quickly make available potentially life-saving drugs.

When asked why he chose to climb for people with Duchenne, Tyler replied, “I can walk and they can’t; so I’m using my muscles for them.”
