NDI Recognition Systems (NDI-RS) announced the launch of a new model of its popular Road Warrior product, the Road Warrior VMS. The Road Warrior VMS solution is a feature-rich message sign system that adds NDI-RS’s automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) technology to a fully programmable variable message system (VMS), with a 24- x 60-inch screen that can display up to 25 different messages. In addition to its message capabilities, the Road Warrior VMS captures license plate information, both day and night, with infra-red and color cameras.

The Road Warrior VMS extends NDI-RS’s Road Warrior product line, which includes the Road Warrior speed trailer – a radar trailer with an 18-inch speed-only display. The Road Warrior speed trailer also houses a complete ALPR system that runs efficiently and covertly in tandem with the radar speed system.

Road Warrior covert ALPR solutions are ideal for checkpoint operations and other temporary ALPR deployments. Law enforcement can quickly and easily establish surveillance in specific areas, identifying suspect vehicles or registered offenders. Both Road Warrior models capture and read license plate image data, and wirelessly alert a variety of law enforcement assets, including patrol vehicles, covert undercover vehicles, and handheld devices.

Data is also transmitted to the Vehicle Intelligence Server and Communications Engine (VISCE) database, which allows law enforcement agencies to conduct full historic search and pre- and post-incident analysis to identify criminal activity and develop intelligence profiles. Both Road Warrior models are powered by heavy-duty deep-cell batteries augmented by solar panels.

“Adding Road Warrior VMS to our product line provides our law enforcement customers with another tool to fight crime,” said Chris McKissick, Director of Sales for NDI-RS. “These covert units help officers identify wanted suspects, locate vehicles involved in AMBER and Silver Alerts, and monitor suspicious activity in specific locations. The Road Warrior solutions are powerful tools for protecting key infrastructure and critical resources, and are a popular choice for agencies that protect seaports, airports, performance arenas, sports venues, and other high-traffic or strategic locations. The information gathered allows law enforcement to react more quickly and close more cases.”
