Swansea, IL (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- CrowdSource, a leader in managed crowdsourcing solutions, recently completed the acquisition of San Francisco-based Servio. This acquisition of a key competitor strengthens CrowdSource’s client portfolio, increases the size of its workforce and expands its solutions. CrowdSource announced its intent to acquire Servio last month.
“Servio built a great team, a skilled workforce and a solid platform. The industry as a whole is experiencing tremendous growth and this acquisition solidifies our position as the leading provider of managed crowdsourcing solutions,” said CrowdSource Co-Founder and CEO, Stephanie Leffler.
Crowdsourcing is the business practice of outsourcing large projects to an online community of workers with specialized skills. CrowdSource divides projects into small tasks and distributes tasks to workers who are best suited to successfully complete them. CrowdSource provides solutions including large-scale copywriting, content moderation, data gathering and data categorization.
While Servio and CrowdSource offered similar content moderation and copywriting solutions, Servio specialized in providing solutions for online retailers. With this acquisition, CrowdSource expands its capabilities for retail clients.
This pairing is a step toward consolidating the crowdsourcing industry, which is expected to grow by 90% in 2013. More than 2,000 enterprise companies worldwide have adopted crowdsourcing to fulfill business processes.
The acquisition of Servio expands CrowdSource’s client portfolio to include retailers such as Staples, Toys“R”Us and Overstock as well as online publishers like CBS/CNET and Orbitz.
CrowdSource retained the Servio team and their San Francisco office, building a larger presence in Silicon Valley.
