Bisnar | Chase Donates 1,000 Turkeys to Orange County Families in Need
Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) December 06, 2013 -- Staff members at the Newport Beach personal injury law firm of Bisnar | Chase joined hands with family members and friends as well as Second Harvest Food Bank to donate 1,000 free turkeys to Orange County families in need.
The turkeys were distributed to 500 families with 2,129 individuals served at St. Norbert Catholic Church in Orange. At Vineyard Church in Anaheim, turkeys were distributed to 338 families with 1,801 individuals served. The remaining turkeys were used for a Thanksgiving dinner at Vineyard Church for those in need.
Bisnar | Chase's staff members have partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank during Thanksgiving to donate turkeys for the last three years. In 2011, the firm started the tradition by donating 750 turkeys. Last year that number grew to 1,000.
"We are fortunate to be able to share Thanksgiving with our families and friends, but there are thousands in Orange County who struggle financially and go hungry on a daily basis," said John Bisnar, Managing Partner of the Bisnar | Chase personal injury law firm and regular food bank volunteer. "We are continuing our commitment to share the celebration of Thanksgiving by serving those who might not otherwise be able to have a feast of their own."
The firm's food contributions come not only from staff members, their families and friends, but also from the law firm's business associates and referral sources. "When we started this program three years ago, we made a decision to use referral fees and money that was spent on holiday gifts to feed the needy. The 1,000 turkeys we've donated this year come from many other businesses and clients who support us year-round."
According to the Second Harvest Food Bank, there are nearly 400,000 people who struggle with hunger in Orange County and one in five children are in risk of hunger each month. At least 21 percent of Orange County's children don't know where their next meal is coming from. Also, according to the OC Health Care Agency, 15.2 percent of seniors experienced food insecurity.
