Mixing Theater, Learning and Digital Media, C&T Stands for Creativity and Technology in the Classroom
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- C&T, a UK-based media company that develops technologies to enhance arts programs at schools, arts organizations and universities around the world, has just completed a successful two year pilot program with New York City Schools and is ready to roll out its programs to other schools, theaters and artists across the U.S.
C & T create online digital learning resources that bring learning to life by mixing creativity and technology in ways students understand and want to learn.
By creating inspiring online interactive dramas using social media tools and the latest in digital technologies, C&T gives young people the skills and confidence to make creative contributions to their communities and the world around them.
The C&T Network is comprised of partner schools, arts organizations and universities across the UK, Africa, Australia and most recently New York City.
To illustrate the concept, Thelivingnewspaper.net, a tool developed by C&T, reinvents the classic documentary drama form of Living Newspapers for the Internet age. The Living Newspaper turns young people into citizen journalists offering new approaches to teaching citizenship, media studies, humanities and literacy. Students learn to use drama and documentary techniques and build their own Living Newspaper website to tell the stories they want to tell about the world around them.
Various arts programs from around the world, who’ve partnered with C&T have this to say about their technologies:
"The company offers unique digital assets that are innovative, participatory and educational. The high quality and pioneering nature of this work is exemplary." - Arts Council England.
"Truly globally distinctive." - Professor Brad Haseman, Queensland University of Technology, Australia Council.
After two years of developing a successful partnership with New York City Schools (through the Department of Education’s Arts and Special Projects) C&T is now reaching out to other schools, theaters and artists across the USA.
C&T doesn’t just work from a distance: they know the importance of putting a human face to a technology. Typically C & T makes visits to partners at the outset of a partnership, training teachers and artists in their technologies and methods. Then they come back periodically to check in and offer support and are always online to work to solve problems or challenges.
