1North Scotland Approved for Green Deal Finance
(PRWEB UK) 10 December 2013 -- Glasgow based Green Deal Provider is one of the first Scottish Providers to have received the full “on boarded” accreditation, which qualifies it to actually write a Green Deal plan (the others are listed here).
The Green Deal is an innovative financing mechanism that lets people pay for energy-efficiency improvements through savings on their energy bills.
1North was formed exclusively for The Green Deal, and aims to cut carbon and reduce fuel poverty. 1North is a Green Deal Provider, Assessor Organisation & Installer.
A provider is a company that has been vetted by the Green Deal Orb (Green Deal oversight and registration body). 1North Ltd was has been approved as a GDP (Green Deal Provider).
The Green Deal Provider is responsible for:
- Offering a Green Deal Plan to customers, based on recommendations from an accredited Assessor Organisation. Arranging for the installation of energy efficiency improvements, carried out by an authorised Installer; and
- Ongoing obligations in relation to Green Deal Plans, including dealing with customer complaints and providing information when a new bill payer moves into a property with a Green Deal.
Participation in the Green Deal requires an initial assessment of a building to determine what work can be done. A household will be charged for this initial phase, this includes an EPC, Occupancy Assessment and GD Plan. The next step is to find a Green Deal Provider who will arrange finance and then appoint GD-approved installers to complete the work.
Many companies are accredited to perform the initial assessment (EPC and Occupancy Assessment) but are unable to also produce the “Green Deal Plan” or to secure the finance and carry out the required installation work.
