Lincoln Abstract & Settlement Services, sister company of Lincoln Appraisal & Settlement Services, is pleased to announce it is becoming "Best Practices Certified" in accordance with the American Land Title Association (ALTA) Best Practices Framework.

On October 9th, 2013, Lincoln Abstract & Settlement Services attended the 108th Annual ALTA Convention in Palm Beach, Florida. The conference is one of the largest networking and educational events in the land title industry, drawing title insurance companies, abstracters, and title agents from all over the country together for education and networking. This year’s event connected over 850 title professionals seeking to make new contacts, learn new business tools, and discuss the legislative and regulatory changes ahead.

After attending this year’s conference, Lincoln Abstract is now working towards creating an ALTA Best Practices Certification package to provide to its clients. The ALTA Best Practices Certification package will include a cover page and three parts: 1) Agency Letter, 2) Best Practices Certificate, and 3) Declarations Page. The Agency Letter serves as an agreement that Lincoln Abstract will remain in compliance with each of the Best Practices during the 24 month period commencing on the date of the letter. The Best Practices Certificate will include the specific procedures executed as related to ALTA’s Best Practices, in addition to a performance grade for said procedures. The Declarations page will include a copy of Lincoln Abstract’s Errors and Omissions or a Professional Liability Declarations page.

President of Lincoln Abstract and Settlement Services, George K. Demopulos, stated, "Becoming Best Practices Certified will not only help Lincoln Abstract to assist lenders with their responsibilities of third party vendor management, but it will also provide risk-management relief for clients who choose to utilize both Lincoln Appraisal and sister company, Lincoln Abstract, for title, closing, and valuation services."
