The Paparellas have purchased 23 Fresh Healthy Vending machines for placement within a 35-mile radius of the Ramsey, Minn. region, adding to the already 26 machines operated by franchisees in locations across Minnesota.
Originally from Minneapolis, Steve Paparella was appointed as a Fresh Healthy Vending franchise owner with his wife Misty in July 2013. With two small kids at home, the Paparellas were looking for a business that would work around their family schedule and also tie into their beliefs of encouraging healthy communities. As a dually owned business venture, the husband-wife team has purchased 23 machines, 11 of which were installed last month at locations secured by Fresh Healthy Vending. Fresh Healthy Vending’s dedicated locations department is committed to securing locations for the remaining 12 machines by the end of January 2014.
“We found Fresh Healthy Vending online about a year ago and went through most of the process to become franchisees, but wanted to do our due diligence to ensure it was the right business venture,” said Steve Paparella. “After a year of intense research, we ended up back with this business because we were sure it was the perfect fit for what we were searching for in a new venture.”
The new machines will give locals access to healthy snack and beverage options, such as smoothies, natural juices, fruit, granola bars, baked chips and natural sodas.
“My immediate family has always been focused on nutrition and America as a whole is gaining a stronger emphasis on leading healthier lifestyles,” added Paparella. “I knew I wanted to own my own business for a variety of reasons, but doing something that is also helping out my community by providing a resource for them to make healthy strides is a bonus.”
Secured by Fresh Healthy Vending International, Inc. and maintained by the Paparellas, the recently installed machines are placed at popular community locations, including Mall of America, three YMCAs and Perpich Center for Arts Education. Other secured locations, with recent installs in November, include Professional Karate Studios, The Pavilion on Berry, Seven Corners Apartments, Riverton Community Housing and 412 Lofts at Dinkytown.
