Launch of SYDNEY PAIGE Aims to Make a Difference in the Lives of Children
La Cañada, CA (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- SYDNEY PAIGE Inc. launches into the socially conscious group of buy-give businesses, offering three lines of age-appropriate, quality designer backpacks and other coordinating school gear. For every purchase made, an identical product is given to a student in need, with the goal of giving kids the tools and confidence to stay in school and graduate.
SYDNEY PAIGE is the dream of Courtney Brockmeyer, a Social Entrepreneur whose goal is to make a difference in the world and teach her own kids (Sydney and Paige) about the importance of education and giving back. Brockmeyer, founder and CEO, stated, “I feel strongly that education leads to economic freedom and I have a deep passion to help children in underserved areas see possibilities beyond what they are able to experience today.”
The U.S. Census Bureau reports that there are more than 16 million children in America living in poverty (one in every five children) and, according to the National Education Association, such kids are six times more likely to drop out of school than those from higher income families. Two of the main culprits behind this dropout statistic are simply not having the right tools to do their homework and/or lacking the confidence to succeed in school.
“The Company’s mission is to promote the importance of education and to enrich the life of a child in need, while simultaneously empowering those more fortunate to be part of the solution and help break the cycle of poverty . . . one child at a time,” said Brockmeyer. “To do this right, we need to offer quality products that students are proud to own and use, regardless of economic circumstance. When creating our product lines, I thought about what all students would need and want in order to learn and thrive in school. I wanted to deliver form, function, fashion and fun.”
To carry out this concept to students in need in the United States, the Company fills each of their backpacks with matching SYDNEY PAIGE accessories (ie: lunch bags and pencil cases) and partners with charitable organizations nationwide to further fill the bags with age-appropriate school supplies. Calling them their "Giving Crew", these organizations are made up of inspiring teams with hearts to serve and give back.
Whether distributed via an official SYDNEY PAIGE Give Event or a small community donation drive, SYDNEY PAIGE products will be given on a case-by-case basis with the goal of giving sustainably and increasingly each year. Brockmeyer further stated, “There are endless opportunities and ways to reach these kids, I want to be open to all of them and not close ourselves off to any one way of doing things. It’s about the kids, not about simplifying a business model.”
The Company’s first Give Event will be held on January 19, 2014. Backpacks filled with matching accessories and school supplies will be donated with Giving Crew members from Rainbow Pack to children in Bienvenidos Children Center programs across Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
SYDNEY PAIGE products range from toddler to young adult. Along with high quality backpacks and other school gear (designs by artist, Sarah C. Ferguson), SYDNEY PAIGE also offers its own line of children's books, which teach lessons about the importance of education and the impact of helping others, while taking young children along the many adventures of the main character, Sydney Paige.
