The corporate messaging tool DeskAlerts has revealed the results of its latest studies into corporate communication channels. In its most recent industry survey, it has discovered that social media is now an intrinsic part of corporate activities and a vital cog in the internal communications process.

In its study, DeskAlerts’ communication experts found organizations and employees held an overwhelmingly positive view of social media with the majority classing it as a sign of innovation. 60% of employees were found to associate corporate internal social media with innovations. The DeskAlerts team were able to conclude that internal social media aided collaboration – with 61% of employees surveyed agreeing with this sentiment. Social media was also deemed to be more engaging with a further 58% of employees admitting that they would rather work at a company using social media than one that did not employee the medium.

The positive facets of social media and the sense that it is now indispensable from an internal corporate communications perspective builds on a recent infographic published by DeskAlerts last month. Entitled 3 Reasons Not To Ignore Twitter’ the infographic provided a succinct breakdown of the advantages to be gained by tweeting and gave the first insight into just how powerful a tool social media sites can be from a communication and engagement perspective.
