B&B Electronics’ Spectre 3G Cellular Routers Enabled for M2M Wireless Networking in Canada
Ottawa, IL (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- B&B Electronics, a leading developer of rugged and mission-critical network connectivity solutions, announced that its Spectre 3G industrial cellular routers are now enabled for use on Rogers Communications wireless networks in Canada. The Spectre routers provide reliable and secure wireless connectivity for machine-to-machine (M2M) networks via a variety of interfaces over Rogers’ HSPA+ and GPRS wireless networks.
The Spectre wireless cellular routers are designed for plug-and-play simplicity and provide extensive remote management and customization options. A modular design allows for multiple configuration options. All units include one Ethernet port, one USB host port, one binary I/O port and two SIM slots as standard features. Optional interfaces via the two auxillary ports include: additional Ethernet switch ports, serial RS-232/422/485 interfaces or additional binary I/O. An additional option is integrated 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi technology, which also allows the Spectre router to serve as a Wi-Fi Access Point (AP) or "Hotspot."
Uniquely designed on an open source LINUX-based architecture, the Spectre products are easily customizable through installation of software plug-in modules. Users can create their own through common LINUX commands and scripts, or add from B&B’s existing library, including Modbus gateway, dynamic routing protocols and secure VPNs.
B&B’s R-SeeNet router management platform offers extensive remote management capabilities. R-SeeNet allows users to easily configure and manage multiple Spectre routers throughout a network. The software continuously collects router statistics and presents information in a concise, user-friendly dashboard. Self-diagnostics, a watchdog capability and the ability to easily create VPN tunnels ensure secure, consistent operation and ultra-reliable wireless connections.
"We're excited to now offer B&B Electronics’ Spectre cellular router family for industrial wireless networking applications in Canada," said Kevin Sakamoto, President of Sak Data, a Canadian distributor for B&B Electronics. "The rugged units feature advanced customization and remote management options yet they’re easy for industrial network operators to use."
The Spectre router’s industrial design makes it ideal for use in a variety of wireless M2M communication applications, including: traffic and security monitoring systems, point-of-sale transactional terminals, industrial control systems, and energy, alarm and sensor monitoring systems.
