We’re extremely honored to be recognized by Inc. Magazine five years in a row for our unique ability to build secure applications and secure the applications our clients build.
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) December 10, 2013
Inc. magazine today ranked Denim Group No. 4890 on its seventh annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. Fuhu tops this year’s list. Denim Group joins LivingSocial, Edible Arrangements, CDW and Lifelock, among other prominent brands featured on this year’s list.
“Software applications are driving business growth today and ensuring that those applications protect sensitive client information is a growing imperative,” said John Dickson, Denim Group Principal. “With applications being responsible for over 90 percent of all security vulnerabilities, software applications have become a top attack vector today. This fact is attributable to Denim Group’s continued growth as companies recognize the need to build secure software that is resilient to Internet attacks and compliant with industry regulations simultaneously. We’re extremely honored to be recognized by Inc. Magazine five years in a row for our unique ability to build secure applications and secure the applications our clients build.”
Today’s applications contain the most sensitive personal information imaginable – information including medical history, credit and bank account information. However, in the race to bring these applications to market, sometimes minimal attention is given to the application’s security risks, resulting in a surprising number of corporate sites that are vulnerable to hackers. However, this trend is changing as more attacks are being focused on the applications themselves. In fact, prominent web site applications from a number of regulated industries including financial services, government, healthcare, and retail, are probed by attackers daily. Some banks have reported being probed at least 50 times a day but the real number is usually far greater. As a result, application security has become a key need in order to avoid damage to a corporation’s credibility, to avoid legal liability and most importantly, to gain customer trust.
Denim Group’s ability to provide software developers that also have deep expertise in software security creates a unique offering for the company. IT professionals with both skills is extremely rare in the IT industry but this combined skillset is necessary to build feature-rich applications that are also resilient to attack. Combining that skillset offering with the industry’s growing acceptance of the importance of application security are the main reasons Denim Group continues to be one of nation's fastest-growing private companies and has been listed for five years in a row despite a stagnant economic environment. In fact, the median growth rate of 2013 Inc. 500|5000 companies is an impressive 142 percent and the companies on this year’s list report having created over 520,000 jobs in the past three years with aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $241 billion.

"Not all the companies in the Inc. 500 | 5000 are in glamorous industries, but in their fields they are as famous as household name companies simply by virtue of being great at what they do. They are the hidden champions of job growth and innovation, the real muscle of the American economy,” says Inc. Editor Eric Schurenberg.
The 2013 Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2009 to 2012. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2009. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2012. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2009 is $100,000; the minimum for 2012 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.’s September issue.
