PetsMove.org Invites Dog Owners around the World to "Move Your Mutt" Jan 1-4, 2014
Camarillo, CA (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- PetsMove.org is offering dog owners around the world an opportunity to exercise with and learn from leading canine fitness experts during its first Move Your Mutt: Virtual Human and Canine Exercise and Health Expo scheduled for January 1-4, 2014.

Expo events include:
• Educational videos from industry experts on canine fitness, food, and wellness. Video presenters include a keynote address from Dr. Katy Nelson, one of the premier veterinarian activists for preventing pet obesity, on the role of exercise and nutrition on overall pet health and wellness.
• Virtual exhibitor booths with top brands offering the best products for canine health and fitness.
• Mutt-a-thon virtual workout for Petsmove members. Move Your Mutt participants will have an opportunity to join other dog owners from around the world for a virtual workout during the inaugural Mutt-a-thon on January 4, 2014, at 9 AM local time.
Mutt-a-thon participants commit to 30 minutes or more of vigorous exercise with their pet on January 4th at 9 AM local time. Exercise choices can include running, biking, brisk walking, chase, or even a structured workout like those available at K9FitClubs. Once completed, participants are encouraged to log their activity on the PetsMove.org site, which will make them eligible for some great prizes. They are also invited to submit a video of their activity that is eligible to be posted on the PetsMove site.
The entire event is free of charge and made possible by event sponsors SlimDoggy, DogTread and K9 Fit Club. For those who cannot attend, all the information and resources will be available on-demand for a limited time following the event.
Similar to the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” initiative to fight childhood obesity, PetsMove.org raises awareness of the pet obesity issue and offers incentive, education and information to our community on keeping their pets fit and healthy.
According to the Surgeon General’s 1996 Physical Activity Report, adults should accumulate at least 30 minutes a day of moderate–intensity physical activity on most, preferably all, days per week. Likewise, Veterinary professionals agree that pets also benefit from similar physical guidelines, citing at least 20-60 minutes of daily activity, depending on breed characteristics and age.
