Veritas Launches New Continuing Education Courses for Veterinarians
Florham Park, N.J. (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- Veritas, a web-based, peer-reviewed continuing education platform for veterinary professionals, today announced its newest type of content: short courses. A joint effort between the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences and Zoetis—Veritas utilizes the latest advances in online teaching technologies.
To explore or register for courses, animal health professionals can visit http://www.VeritasDVM.com. The first short courses to be available on Veritas, include:
- frank™: Communication Skills for Exceptional Customer Service: This introductory module is approved for 1.0 hour of CE and is applicable to the entire veterinary care team. It focuses on five key communication skills that can be learned and applied in any client interaction immediately. The module is designed to be interactive and engaging as it tests the learner’s progress through the course material.
- Common Dental Extractions: Canine: Developed by Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, this course is available exclusively through Veritas. Authored by Dr. Johnathon Dodd, DVM, DVDC Clinical Associate Professor of Dentistry, the course features a series of practical instructional videos detailing the techniques to perform the more difficult extractions in canine patients. It also includes guidelines for when to perform extractions, tips to avoid common procedural complications, instructions for post-operative care, and a downloadable dental anatomy poster. This course is approved for 1.5 hours of CE credit.
“I am thrilled to see Veritas expanding its course selection,” says Mark Cassetta, Veritas Business Manager. “We know veterinarians and technicians are very busy, and Veritas’ new course content now makes it easier than ever for veterinarians to stay current without spending hours in front of a computer.”
In addition to the benefit of new shorter courses, Veritas also enables veterinarians to start and resume courses at anytime.
Veritas launched in 2012 with three premium courses, CPR: Basic Life Support, Physical Rehabilitation, and Canine Hyperadrenocorticism. Now, Veritas features four premium courses, two short courses, case studies, and free resources, such as an osteoarthritis video. The platform is growing rapidly with two more courses expected to be released by the end of 2013.
