C. C. Young Partners with Joyce Simard to Implement “Ageless Spirit” Sensory Therapy Program
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- C. C. Young today announced their partnership with Joyce Simard, creator of the Namaste Care program, designed for people with advanced dementia. A frequent international speaker, well-known author, and respected adjunct professor, Joyce’s Namaste Care program is based on the power of loving touch and has impacted the lives and families of dementia patients worldwide.
Ms. Simard’s Namaste Care program is designed to improve the quality of life for people with advanced dementia. Namaste is a Hindu term meaning “to honor the spirit within” and was selected to describe a program that brings honor to people who can no longer tell us who they are, who they were, or care for themselves without assistance.
C. C. Young has adapted Ms. Simard’s program for their Ageless Spirit program which includes a designated space that helps to create a safe and comforting environment for all who enter: residents, their families and staff. This seven day a week program provides a wide range of meaningful activities that help bring pleasure to people with advanced dementia or that have other physical or mental impairments. Hand and foot massage, brushing or combing a person’s hair with slow movements and moisturizing the ladies faces with Ponds cold cream, are just a few of the ways that bring pleasure with a loving touch. There is also the “a la carte” version which enables staff to visit the rooms of residents who are not easily moved.
C. C. Young President and CEO Russell Crews commented, “We are thrilled to work with Joyce and for her presence joining us on the C. C. Young campus to implement the Ageless Spirit program. Joyce’s innovations and methods represent the level and high quality of personal care that has always been paramount on our campus.”
“It has been a joy to partner with the entire C. C. Young team in implementing their Ageless Spirit program on-site. We have developed and implemented personalized care program for the residents of their campus that exemplifies the quality and spirit of the C. C. Young approach,” said Joyce Simard. “This campus gets it. They understand personal care, loving touch, and the desire to provide safe and comforting solutions.”
