Rockbridge Sports Group Announces Partnerships with Western Athletic Conference and St. Bonaventure University
Charlottesville, Virginia (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- Rockbridge Sports Group is pioneering a new model in collegiate, high-school and global events multimedia rights management, and the business is gaining significant momentum. This week, Rockbridge Sports Group announced new partnerships with the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and St. Bonaventure University.
Rockbridge Sports Group, based in Charlottesville, Virginia, is led by executives with decades of experience in building and executing fully-integrated property and media rights programs on behalf of some of the premier brands in collegiate sports. Started in 2011, Rockbridge has methodically honed its model and grown a diverse set of clients including the Arizona Interscholastic Association, the Fairfax 2015 World Police & Fire Games, and collegiate properties including Stetson University, Houston Baptist University, and Liberty University.
“Rockbridge Sports Group is building a dynamic stable of clients who appreciate the value of their rights and want to grow that value within their culture and on their own terms,” said David Johnston, co-founder and principal. “We are uniquely positioned to serve collegiate institutions that are seeking a new way forward, one that returns ownership and control of rights in-house yet leverages the proven business and revenue models that we have worked to develop over the past two decades.”
Athletics Director Steve Watson indicated that the partnership is the first of its kind for St. Bonaventure. “Rockbridge Sports Group is a rising leader in the collegiate landscape,” said Watson. “This partnership will allow us to improve our fiscal standing while allowing greater sponsor involvement with all of our 14 programs. Rockbridge understands the unique and specific needs we have at St. Bonaventure, and they are willing to adapt to us while also incorporating our existing platforms.”
“The Western Athletic Conference is pursuing a unique opportunity to promote and extend the WAC brand on a national level,” said WAC Commissioner Jeff Hurd. “The relationship with Rockbridge Sports Group will provide the experience and commitment necessary to take advantage of this moment and strengthen the conference over the coming years.”
Rich Klein, co-founder and principal of Rockbridge Sports Group, also noted the importance of moving the business into new frontiers. “Some of our most exciting work is happening in the digital and interactive realm, and we are extending our models to deliver value to statewide interscholastic associations and the second largest international sporting competition after the Summer Olympic Games,” said Klein. “We are optimistic about the growth and evolution of Rockbridge Sports Group, and look forward to making several more announcements in the months ahead.”
