Bielat Santore & Company’s “Who’s Who in the Restaurant Industry”
Monmouth Beach, NJ (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- Who knew that working a part-time job to pay for school could inspire a different career path in the future? It did for Angelo DiCapua, owner of three Michael Angelo’s pizzerias and co-owner of four locations for MJ’s Pizza Bar and Grill. Serving fresh Boars Head deli sandwiches and cheesy pizza to dine-in or take-out, Michael Angelo’s Restaurants are the go-to spots for local residents and Jersey Shore vacationers as well.
Before opening the first Michael Angelo’s in 1997 on Beach Road in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, DiCapua was an aspiring pharmacist employed at a pizza shop to pay for pharmacy school. “Making and delivering pizzas was how I put myself through college,” said DiCapua. “I wanted to do something in the industry so I started my first pizzeria.” The shop soon grew expanding to its most popular location, Sea Girt, New Jersey and a self-serve shop in Pier Village in Long Branch, New Jersey.
Michael Angelo’s prepares all of their food in full vision of the customer. Showcasing their meats and ingredients is key to their success. “A lot of other restaurants make their sandwiches in the back room. I think that people being able to see that the cold cuts are fresh and made in front of them is important,” said DiCapua. “That’s what makes us popular, because not many other places do that.”
Competition is not an issue for the restaurant given their traffic-driven locations. “In Pier Village there is no competition because people come for the take-out service,” said DiCapua. “We take pride in spending money on good food so we won over some of our customers. That is tough to do considering we don’t have a liquor license.”
DiCapua also takes pride in his other business venture as the co-owner of MJ’s Pizza Bar and Grill with his partner, Rob Webster. The duo had taken interest in opening a restaurant together years ago when, former FBI agent, Webster ran the Channel Club Catering in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey. “I was ready for a change and Rob was ready to move on from the FBI so we decided it was a good time,” said DiCapua. Over the years the two restaurants have blended recipes from their menus making both places very well-known. “People know we are one in the same,” said DiCapua. “Michael Angelo’s fans tell others about MJ’s and vice versa.” They are also looking into making gift cards redeemable for both restaurants at all locations allowing more of a variety.
With indoor and outdoor seating at each location, Michael Angelo’s is open from 11:00 am – 10:00 pm on week days and close at 11:00 pm on weekends. Take-out, delivery and catering are available. MJ’s Pizza Bar and Grill has several New Jersey locations in Tinton Falls, Neptune, Middletown, and Matawan. They are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner starting at 11:00 am. Private party space is available at MJ’s Buttonwood Manor in Matawan upon reservation. Visit their website for additional information on specials and holiday events http://mjsrestaurant.com/.
