Landmark Properties Launches National Philanthropic Program to Support Boys & Girls Clubs
Athens, GA (PRWEB) December 11, 2013 -- Landmark Properties, a leading developer and operator of student housing across the nation, announced today the launch of a national philanthropic program across its entire student housing portfolio to support local Boys & Girls Clubs of by raising $30,000 and giving 2,500 volunteer hours in 2014.
Landmark Gives Back is a company-wide philanthropic endeavor with the purpose to bring residents and staff together to give back to each of the local markets where Landmark has, or currently is developing, student housing communities.
In its inaugural year, Landmark Gives Back will support local Boys & Girls Clubs through both financial assistance and volunteer support. The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens, and James Whitley, vice president and COO of Landmark Properties and vice chair of the board for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens, hopes that this program will encourage more children to stay on the right path to higher education.
“Through the development and ongoing management of our student housing, we have access to communities full of college students who have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and teens in their local community,” said Whitley. “At Landmark Properties, we believe that every child not only deserves the chance to attend and graduate from college, but also that every child is capable of making it there with the right guidance and mentorship. We are excited to see to see the positive impact that our residents and employees will have on children across the nation through Landmark Gives Back.”
Currently, the company has eight communities in five different markets – The Retreat at Tucson in Tucson, Ariz., The Retreat at Knoxville in Knoxville, Tenn., The Retreat at Columbia in Columbia, S.C., The Retreat at Lake Tamaha in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and four communities in Athens, Ga.; The Retreat, The Retreat South, The Station and The Lofts at 945.
Landmark also has three communities under construction to be delivered in August 2014 – The Standard in Athens, Ga., The Retreat at Orlando in Orlando, Fla., and The Retreat at Newark in Newark, Del.
In each of the five markets where Landmark currently has fully operational student housing communities, the goal is to raise $5,000 per year for the local Boys & Girls Club. To reach this goal, Landmark will donate $1 for every bed it fills. Additionally, residents and staff at each community will come together to host fundraising events and Landmark will match all funds raised, dollar for dollar.
In each of the three markets where Landmark is currently building communities, the company will donate $3 for every lease signed until the community opens, when the fundraising goal will be raised to $5,000.
Landmark has also set a goal to donate 500 volunteer hours per fully operational market throughout the year. Transportation will be provided to and from the local Boys & Girls Club for students and staff who are interested in giving their valuable time to help with things like after-school tutoring, sports coaching, teaching dance classes, and more.
