Safety, Circuit Breakers, Transformers, and Relays are the titles of the panel sessions being led by industry experts on day two of PowerTest 2014, Tuesday, March 4. PowerTest is hosted by NETA (InterNational Electrical Testing Association).
Attendees can choose two of four different panel topics, and learn from experts and peers alike. In each session, the audience guides the discussion by asking questions of the panel of experts, who are each given a chance to respond. NETA Certified Technicians who need Continuing Technical Development credits (CTDs) as well as other industry professionals who need continuing education will benefit from the broad range of topics presented by leaders in the industry.
SAFETY – One of the most popular panel discussions at PowerTest, discussion topics include the current NFPA 70E and the impact of upcoming versions, selection and use of PPE, arc-flash warning labels, and more. Always lively, no two panel discussions are the same. Moderator: Jim White, Shermco Industries. CIRCUIT BREAKERS –Panel members will discuss testing methods and experiences they have had with circuit breakers, among the most important and complicated devices in an electrical protection system. TRANSFORMERS – Power transformer predictive technologies will be discussed in detail. Industry experts will participate, and will be prepared to answer questions from attendees and share their insights. Moderator: Pat Beisert, Shermco Industries. RELAYS – Protective relays are a critical part of any transmission or distribution system. They can be as simple as a single-variable electromechanical relay or a complex system employing logic and communications. These areas will be discussed as attendees drive the conversation with questions and the panel offers insight. Moderator: Rod Hageman, PRIT Service, Inc. TRADE SHOW – Learning sessions pause Tuesday afternoon to allow attendees to enjoy lunch and visit more than 100 exhibits showcasing the latest technology and services from top-tier electrical power vendors. No other show brings together this many companies focused on electrical safety, testing, and maintenance.
POWERBASH – Two days of intense conference sessions culminate with a gathering featuring food, beverages, and awards. Awards for best Technical Presentation, Trade Show Booth, and Hospitality Suite will be presented, among others.
