SLCC Student EP Release Party and Jazz Concert
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) December 11, 2013 -- Salt Lake Community College’s got talent; and it will be on display Friday night as student Julia Lelis takes the stage along with the SLCC Jazz Ensemble Group for her EP release party.
The ensemble will kick things off at 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room inside the College’s new Center for Arts and Media, located at the school’s South City Campus in Salt Lake City, 1575 South State Street.
Lelis will perform the closing set, which will debut her EP “He’s Got Me,” also the title for one of the four songs on the release. Lelis said the four singles revolve around the theme of light versus dark.
“It’s a pretty deeply-worded EP, but I tried to keep the music still fun and interesting,” she said. “I’m not sure what genre these songs would fall under, though I’m going for more of a blues/jazz influence. I’m trying to steer clear of being pinned down by genre labels.”
Fans of and newcomers to Lelis’ voice will be treated to a soulful sound, coupled with “very personal” words that she said have a hint of “religious lyrical influence … without the Christian rock aspect.”
