The current methods of converting to LED lighting are primarily based on replacing existing light bulbs with LED based products, which are required to fit into the original AC powered sockets. This approach is not the best solution, as each LED light requires an AC to DC converter, adding costs, lowering reliability and efficiency.

The invention describes apparatus providing DC Plug-n-Power™ distribution for DC rated devices, such as LED lighting, replacing existing labor-intense and costly AC-DC power distribution methods.

The invention introduces DC Plug-n-Power™ wall-mount receptacles and switches, as well as stand-alone DC Plug-n-Power™ distribution strips, power splitters and harnesses. For convenience and safety, the DC Plug-n-Power™ outlets are using industry standard interface connections, unique for each of the DC voltages: 5V, 12V, 24V.

Among other great features, the invention provides convenient DC Plug-n-Power™ distribution to DC rated devices from several DC power sources, including batteries, with only one power source active at a time. DC rated devices which are required to be functional during AC power outage, such as LED lights designated for emergency lighting, can be powered via DC Plug-n-Power™ splitter. During partial or complete loss of electricity, the DC Plug-n-Power™ splitter will automatically switch to stand-by battery source, sustaining operation of LED emergency lights.

Customers will enjoy the convenience and the safety of connecting DC rated devices directly to the appropriate DC Plug-n-Power™ outlets, saving in space and costs by eliminating previously required DC power bricks.

For each specific project, factory assembled and tested DC Plug-n-Power™ distribution kit, containing all required power and control modules, interface cables, will be delivered directly to the installation site. As result, new installations or upgrades, in respect to DC Plug-n-Power™ distribution, can be accomplished within hours.
