BeginAgain Toys Wins $150,000 Investment from The Guppy Tank
Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) December 11, 2013 -- BeginAgain Toys has captured the top prize in The Guppy Tank’s Denver competition, winning a $150,000 investment from the group of Orange County, CA-based angel investors. The Fort Collins, CO-based toy maker was chosen from a competitive field of entrepreneurs who pitched their concepts to The Guppy Tank’s panel in Denver on September 8, 2013.
The goal of the competition was to identify and provide investments and loans to small companies looking for the financial help needed to grow and expand. To qualify for funds, Colorado entrepreneurs needed to effectively identify the challenges they face, explain what made their businesses unique, how they would utilize the funds, and demonstrate how their team was poised for success.
“We had a fantastic turnout from the Denver business community and companies throughout Colorado,” said The Guppy Tank Founder Darrin Ginsberg. “BeginAgain was the standout company, led by exceptionally talented designers David Bowen and Chris Clemmer. We loved the products and the vision behind them and applaud their commitment to child safety and sustainability.”
Founded in 2011, BeginAgain makes toys that are powered by kids—not batteries—and are developed in partnership with the planet, using plant- based materials whenever possible. The company plans to use its recent capital infusion to purchase inventory for the busy holiday season.
“Participating in The Guppy Tank gave us a great opportunity to tell our story and gain valuable feedback while obtaining crucial funding for our growing company,” said Chris Clemmer.
The Guppy Tank is an event-based capital provider and a kinder, gentler, non-televised version of the ABC television show, “The Shark Tank.” The program’s sponsor, licensed California lender Super G Funding, LLC (DBA BizCash), hosted the first Guppy Tank funding event in October 2012 in Newport Beach and provided over $600,000 in funding to three local Southern California companies. A second event was held in April 2013 in Santa Monica, California.
Ginsberg and his team are scouting locations for the next Guppy Tank event.
