Realty Executives Join Forces with Family
Phoenix (PRWEB) December 11, 2013 -- Mackey Martin is one of Realty Executives Phoenix’s top agents, but unlike many business owners considering retirement in the next decade, Martin isn’t worried about the multi-million dollar business and clientele she has spent 18 years and countless hours building. Instead Martin has spent the past 10 years teaching her business partner Trey everything she knows, introducing him to key clients and grooming him to make a seamless transition as the next business owner. Some might question Martin’s ability to hand over her legacy with such confidence, but Trey isn’t just any agent…he is Mackey’s son.
“Trey achieved tremendous success as a professional baseball player and golfer and I knew his work ethic and drive would allow him to similarly succeed in real estate,” explained Mackey. “I see things more maternally and emotionally, while Trey has a single-minded focus. We balance each other out and although our perspectives are very different, our shared moral compass and desire to do what is best for our clients keeps us on course.”
The “two-heads are better than one mentality” has paid off for the pair, as has putting the client first. Their successful business is built primarily on referrals and repeats who appreciate the integrity of the team.
Expanding The Business
Trey Martin’s perspective isn’t the only thing he’s contributed to the family business. He has also created an extremely successful “Professional Athlete Division,” utilizing his past to build confidence within the local sporting community. Additionally, Trey is a multi-million dollar producer and top ranked Arizona agent year after year.
“I’m grateful that my mom has taken the time to teach me what she’s learned and trusts me to explore new business opportunities that benefit our entire business,” explains Trey Martin. “Anyone that knows my mom understands how irreplaceable she is, her wealth of market knowledge and the incredible impression she instantly makes – so my goal is to simply work as hard as I can to uphold her reputation.”
Incorporating New Technology
Similar to Trey, Rigby Cilley is a young Realty Executives Phoenix agent making her mark. In just three short years, Rigby has encouraged her seasoned business partner to add a new farm area, create a Facebook business page, increase the searchability and resources for buyers on their website, cleaned up the database of past clients and launched a monthly e-newsletter. In turn, top-producing agent Donna helps her avoid many of the mistakes she made early in her career and identifies leadership and networking opportunities.
Rigby’s decision to partner and trust Donna is easy. Donna is her mother and has been setting a wonderful example for years. When exploring education and career opportunities, Rigby was drawn to the career her mother found such joy and success in.
Donna had earned a degree in sociology with a minor in psychology and Rigby followed suit with a psychology degree. Donna welcomed the opportunity to partner with Rigby and by combining forces they are able to relate to a wider variety of clients, provide even better service and ensure the long-term viability of their real estate practice.
“We think of ourselves as real estate counselors as much as sales people, always trying to look at the big picture and see what is best for the client in their current situation,” Donna explained.
Succession Planning
The Martin and Cilley’s mother-son and mother-daughter teams aren’t unusual in Arizona. In fact, at least 15 percent of Realty Executives Phoenix agents have joined forces with family members.
“It just makes sense,” remarked Rich Rector, owner and president of Realty Executives Phoenix. “Statistically, seasoned top producers that partner with a younger family member see even greater success, are able to share their achievements with family, ensure years of wisdom aren’t lost and ultimately better strengthen the entire Phoenix real estate industry.”
He added, “We promote a similar exchange through the Realty Executives Phoenix Mentoring Program and hope to encourage more agents to plan for the future through such dynamic partnerships.”
