Citadel Energy Commences Drilling on Pembroke Saltwater Disposal Well Near Watford City, North Dakota
Los Angeles, CA & Watford City, ND (PRWEB) December 13, 2013 -- Citadel Energy Services, LLC, a leading fluid services management provider for US oil and gas companies, today announced it has commenced drilling of the Pembroke SWD, its Saltwater Disposal Well Facility located near Watford City, North Dakota. The Pembroke SWD is located in McKenzie County, one of the busiest counties of the Bakken Shale for oil well drilling activity, and is permitted for up to 15,000 barrels of disposal capacity per day.
Stanton Dodson, Managing Partner & Co-Chairman of Citadel Energy, commented, "We are very pleased to have commenced drilling the Pembroke SWD. Site development has been underway for a few weeks now, and this facility will be a flagship property of Citadel’s, offering state-of-the-art technology monitoring every aspect of environmental and safety in real-time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Pembroke SWD is centrally located near dozens of permitted and producing oil wells making this a natural to easily service the area's high output of wastewater."
Saltwater is a by-product of oil-and-gas production and has to be disposed of on a continuous basis for the life of the well. The most common disposal method is to inject the produced saltwater and other oil and gas wastes into suitable, naturally occurring formations. These injection zones are required to be adequately isolated by relatively impermeable strata to confine the injected fluids to the permitted zone. Using permanent surface tanks to accumulate the oil and gas wastes and separate contaminants, a high-pressure pump is used to inject the waste back into the permitted injection zone using the disposal well.
"Pembroke SWD #1 has spudded and we are drilling our first saltwater disposal well in North Dakota. We couldn't ask for a better team and partner in Energy Drilling, LLC and their Rig #7 team. Rig Manager Ray Ash is extremely professional and has our operation ticking despite the -36 degree (wind chill) cold. Barring weather delays, we are on track to launch facility operations in March and extremely pleased with the progress so far," commented Dr. Bruce Langhus, Citadel Energy's Chief Geologist.
