Golden, CO. (PRWEB) December 12, 2013
HomeAdvisor employees volunteered a total of 1,681 hours from January 1 to November 15, 2013 as part of the volunteer benefit at HomeAdvisor. For their volunteer day, employees could choose from either a company group activity offered or help a nonprofit organization of their choice.
The volunteer benefit was created in 2009 to encourage employees to use one work day during the calendar year to help a nonprofit organization they felt passionate about. A few of the activities employees completed in 2013 include: building a house with Habitat for Humanity, planting trees with Groundwork Denver, assisting the Special Olympics Colorado with their awards banquet and creating a garden with the Jeffco Action Center.
"We employ more than 900 people and understand the importance of giving back to the community," said HomeAdvisor CEO Chris Terrill. "The best place for employees to start creating positive change is with an organization in their own backyard."
Lliam Johnston, HomeAdvisor manager of business development, volunteered at a local event called the Project Homeless Connect 13. During the event, homeless men and women were offered various services, such as housing, medical, insurance, legal assistance, job readiness and education.
"It is extremely important for a benefit of this nature to be offered," Johnston said. "Hopefully it encourages employees to find an organization they are passionate about and to make a change in their community for the greater good."
