Rocketing app demand sees new business Mobile Rockit take off

WEB design agency Koodoo Creative is aiming to generate new jobs with the launch of a spin-off mobile apps business, which has already landed several major clients.

Koodoo Creative based in Teesside has launched Mobile Rockit to cater for growing demand among businesses for apps amid increased levels of mobile web usage.

The new online tool allows businesses to build apps and mobile versions of their websites quickly and for a fraction of the price charged by most digital agencies. The apps include social media integration, cloud storage, multiple page listings and a bespoke booking form.

It has already attracted the North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC) as a client, as well as volunteer organisation Evolution Darlington, recruitment group Westray and waste management business Harpers.

Charlie Nettle, NECC’s head of marketing said: “Having an app that delivers content and real time information is key as mobile usage is increasing year on year and we want to be at the forefront of this technology so that we can deliver the best service to our members.

“We are aware that many of our members are keen to make use of app technology for their own businesses, so it’s great that Mobile Rockit is offering fellow members preferential rates so they can get their own app up and running.”

Being a North East born and bred business, Mobile Rockit is keen to find ways to support its local community. As part of its commitment to this, Mobile Rockit will be donating 10% of all MobileRock.it revenues generated from providing apps to fellow NECC members, to local charities.

Adam Lee, who owns Koodoo Creative along with his business partner Sam Whisker, said: “More than half of the visits to your website or views of your business content will come from a mobile device. This is the next big thing.

“If you, as a business do not have a mobile presence you are likely to be missing out on a huge amount of enquiries. Having a mobile app for your business encourages repeat usage of your services due to convenience and accessibility.

“What makes this service different to others is that clients build the app, they are in control and they don’t need to be a developer. Given that most bespoke apps on average cost between £10k - £15k, companies can make huge savings with the online tool.”

Following the launch of Mobile Rockit, the company has added an intern from Teesside University and a senior sales executive to its team – with more new jobs likely to be created in the coming months.
