New York, NY (PRWEB) December 12, 2013

Last week, the world lost one of its greatest leaders, Nelson Mandela, former South African president, anti-apartheid champion, statesman and Nobel laureate. To commemorate and celebrate Mandela’s exemplary and courageous life and work, Time Home Entertainment Inc. will release TIME Nelson Mandela: A Hero’s Journey and LIFE Nelson Mandela: 1918-2013 on December 13.

TIME’s Nelson Mandela: A Hero’s Journey (Bookazine; $12.99 and Hardcover $19.95) traces the twin journeys of Mandela and his nation away from the hateful system of apartheid to the establishment of a modern South Africa in which all people are free.

The sweeping, richly illustrated volume also features a personal and insightful preface by former TIME managing editor Richard Stengel, who collaborated with Mandela on Mandela’s best-selling 1993 autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom.

LIFE’s Nelson Mandela 1918-2013 (Bookazine $11.99) chronicles the triumphant story of one of the most titanic figures of the 20th century. The special issue includes reporting and pictures by LIFE’s renowned photographers, as well as the dramatic narrative of the hero’s life, including words by Mandela himself, including his speeches, prison diaries, and letters.
