Milpitas, Calif., and Seoul, South Korea (PRWEB) December 16, 2013

Compass-EOS, the icPhotonics™ routing pioneer, today announced a partnership with SNet Systems, a leading systems integrator in Southeast Asia. Under terms of the agreement, SNet will offer Compass-EOS’ novel icPhotonics-based r10004 routers in South Korea.

“The Korean market is ready to deploy a new breed of routers which take up less space and power, and yet provide high port density, as well as a clear path to SDN and NFV,” said Byung Han Lee, CTO of SNet Systems. “At SNet we aim to provide the Korean market with new networking products and architecture so service providers can radically improve their systems and realize an immediate return on investment with lower operational costs and higher throughputs.”

The Compass-EOS technology is the world’s first shipping silicon-to-photonics-based router, a technology long considered as having disruptive potential in core networking and computing. Its icPhotonics-based interconnect creates novel router architectures requiring lower power, and taking up less space while providing a higher port density and capacity. In addition to the lower total cost of ownership for each Compass-EOS router, the technology enables building-block deployment of routing resources, similar to how data centers underwent a revolution 15 years ago.

“As the global leader in Internet connectivity and speeds, the South Korean market is a great fit for Compass-EOS, as service providers need to deliver greater bandwidth and require flexible routers that can easily scale,” said Gadi Bahat, CEO of Compass-EOS. “SNet Systems is an ideal partner in South Korea, with its deep expertise in networking.”
