This is a natural, logical expansion of our practice and we are confident that leveraging Clutch’s existing expertise and services will benefit our clients in the energy space
Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 13, 2013
Clutch Group, a leading professional services firm that specializes in working with General Counsel within Fortune 500 companies, announced today its expansion into the energy and natural resources industry.
Clutch, which offers its services to companies in the financial services, technology, and life sciences industries, is dramatically increasing the reach of its compliance and risk services and products by entering the energy and natural resources industry.
“We have seen that the legal and compliance issues in the global energy and natural resources industry – and the way that these problems manifest themselves – are inherently similar to those in the industries in which we have already built core competencies,” said Brian Flack, General Counsel at Clutch Group. “This is a natural, logical expansion of our practice and we are confident that leveraging Clutch’s existing expertise and services will benefit our clients in the energy space.”
Flack, who manages Clutch’s legal, risk, compliance, and governance functions, as well as the development and implementation of Clutch’s global managed review strategy and service delivery, will be leading the company’s expansion into the energy and natural resources industry. As a former partner at Venable LLP, Flack dealt with a wide variety of legal issues in the environmental space and has developed a deep understanding of the unique risk and compliance needs in the energy industry.
In addition, Clutch has added Amar Hasan, a respected legal expert, as a Senior Director to help integrate additional energy industry expertise into the organization.
Prior to Clutch, Amar was the Legal Counsel for North America and GeoSolutions at WesternGeco, a subsidiary of Schlumberger, the largest oilfield services company in the world. As a member of WesternGeco’s North America management team, Amar handled all legal issues for the North America region. He also handled the global legal issues for the GeoSolutions product line. Prior to his time at Schlumberger, Amar was the Legal Counsel for Acergy Group (now Subsea 7), an international seabed-to-surface engineering and construction contractor operating in the offshore oil and gas industry.
“I am excited to join the Clutch team,” said Amar. “Energy companies are operating in a tumultuous legal and regulatory environment, and Clutch is in an ideal position to help them become more effective and efficient.”
