Sandy Hook Victims Honored by Congressional Petition: Author/Publisher Tamara Amos Petitions Congress to Declare December 14 the National Day of Good Will
Warrenton, VA (PRWEB) December 13, 2013 -- As the one year anniversary of the notorious shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary draws near, Tamara Amos, owner of Mystical Rose inspirational publishing company has sponsored a petition to declare December 14 the National Day of Good Will.
The Petition is addressed to the US President, Congress and Senate and asks them to:
Declare December 14 the National Day of Good Will
1.) To promote peace through acts of kindness
2.) To bring together people of all genders, races, religions, and ideologies under the common value of good will
3.) To honor the victims of the New Haven Connecticut shooting on December 14, 2012 by celebrating the joy and generosity of childhood in order to turn this terrible event into an opportunity to actively uphold the values of peace, love, and generosity
"The best response to a tragedy is to bring good out of it," says Tamara Amos, who instituted her company on the principle that new creation comes from chaos. "As a nation, we were brought to our knees last Christmas by this tragedy. Many people sent gifts as symbols or their love and support. Many others performed acts of kindness in their honor. What better way to honor these children and adults that were killed that day than to turn it into an occasion where all people come together under the common value of good will to combat violence and hatred with love?"
When they heard about the shootings last year, Tamara and her four children held a prayer service in their home and lit candles for the victims. She says that she pondered for a long time what she could do for the families and when she read an article in a magazine that described some of the children that were killed, a common theme struck her: the angelic goodness of children. This, coupled with the example of the people who performed acts of kindness in their honor prompted the idea for the National Day of Good Will.
"They (the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting) will always be our Christmas angels. In celebrating the goodness of their innocent lives, may we be guided by their heavenly light into a more peaceful era."
