Ocean Tomo Sponsors Auction and Paddle Raise for Children’s Research Fund Children’s Ball to Benefit Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Research Center
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 12, 2013 -- Ocean Tomo, LLC, the intellectual capital merchant banc™ firm and creator of the live public open cry auction marketplace for intellectual property, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Children’s Research Fund Live Auction and Paddle Raise at the 2013 Children’s Ball, benefiting the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Research Center.
The 2013 Children’s Ball, being held on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the Hilton Chicago, is the Children’s Research Fund’s annual fundraising celebration. The black-tie event, themed “Bridges: From Research to Healthy Kids,” honors the physicians, scientists and staff at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Lurie Children’s Research Center who work tirelessly to build bridges that provide the infrastructure, talent and knowledge to close the divide between innovative research and the patient’s bedside.
The night will begin with a cocktail hour like no other – in addition to specialty cocktails and lavish hors d’oeuvres, guests will have the opportunity to visit interactive displays where world-class Lurie Children’s researchers will be sharing their breakthrough discoveries.
Ocean Tomo is sponsoring the Live Auction and Paddle Raise where guests will have the opportunity to bid on a rare Van Cleef & Arpels behind-the-scenes experience including a tour of its renowned Paris workshop and a prized seat in the classroom of L’Ecole, the one and only jewelry school of its kind. This unique experience allows exclusive access to the creative vision behind the design, craftsmanship and creation of Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry and watch collections.
“Market making activities, including auctions, are at the core of Ocean Tomo’s history and experience. When the opportunity came to support the Children’s Research Fund to use an auction to help advance innovative pediatric research, we jumped at the chance,” said James Malackowski, CEO and Chairman, Ocean Tomo.
“The Children's Research Fund needs your help in order to continue to play a vital role in improving the health and lives of children. Your generosity can truly make a difference in aiding research. For $1,000 investigators can conduct research on 50 tumors for prognostic evaluation; for $500 researchers can test the biomarkers for acute kidney failure in 10 pediatric patients; or, for $100 researchers can analyze two blood samples from patients with immune diseases,” Malackowski explains.
